In August 2014, the employee Rafael Ferreira participated on the program Conhecendo a Sabará (“Knowing Sabará”), with his co-worker Laudicéia Pavorê. He works in the Information Technology Department of the unit in Anália Franco, and she works in Anápolis. He reports his experience below:
“We visited the unit in Itapissuma and explored the administrative, production, logistic and Global Service sectors. Furthermore, we visited some touristic attractions in Pernambuco: Forte Orange, Boa Viagem Beach and Porto de Galinhas. We enjoyed buggy rides and raft sailing and have been to a number of beaches. We loved the experience! It was very nice to be introduced in person to people with whom we have daily contact by phone and e-mail. I felt very welcomed. The program gave us the opportunity of getting to know the business of the company, what is produced and how it is done.”
In a company that operates in such distant and distinct areas of the country, the promotion of a cultural Exchange among the teams is a special concern of the Department of People Development and Enhancement (DVP), not only to improve the communication among employees, but also to facilitate the progress of the processes. The DVP promote actions for the employees to explore another unit of their choice, and have the chance of getting to know the local culture and beauties. Thus, the employee can have a better understanding of the plant’s routine and personally get in touch with co-workers with whom he had only a distant contact. DVP encourages the engagement of the employee, the comprehension of the unit’s processes and improves the relationship among employees.
Focusing the development of the employees, the Group promotes the International Business Seminary in Orlando, United States. 13 employees participated in the program in 2013, and in 2015, twelve leaders of different areas of the company participated in the program, getting in touch with management practices of excellence in services and with a diversity of cultures. The schedule included talks about leadership, self-awareness, corporate governance and other topics, including training in an acknowledged local institution, where the participants were exposed to their business model and customer service.
With the diversity of segments of operation, the Group has the challenge to keep the employees informed and aware about the actions performed by each business. To reach this goal, the area of People Management is investing on corporate TV as a channel for the disclosure of these actions, besides the electronic communication by e-mail and intranet.
In 2014, the Group started the program Rede de Ideias (“Network of Ideas”), which enhances the involvement of the employees with innovation. In that year, 78 employees participated in the program, contributing with ideas for the improvement of processes and running for prizes of R$ 5 thousand, for the first prize, R$ 3 thousand for the second prize and R$ 1 thousand for the third place. One of the awarded proposals, for example, improved Concepta’s storage process.

The Group provides the employees of all its operation units: health and dental care, life insurance, food and meal vouchers, PLR, pharmacies discounts, scholarships and language classes, in addition to the benefits predicted by the legislation, like transit passes.
The Group has the CIPA’s (Internal Commission for Accident Prevention) and Fire Brigade Formal Committee, comprising employees with different hierarchy levels, men and women from the production, administration and commercial areas. This committee operates in every level related to safety and accident prevention inside the organization, with meetings held in a monthly basis to discuss and propose improvements in occupational health and safety. All the employees of the Fire Department are trained and educated about what to do in case of a fire in the company’s premises.
